Art and Design

A very cross-curricular subject...
The Art and Design curriculum provides a unique way of understanding and responding to the world. It encourages each child to develop creativity and imagination by exploring the visual, tactile and sensory qualities of materials and art processes. Children learn about colour, shape and space, pattern and texture and use them to represent their ideas and feelings. They explore the role of art, craft and design in their environment. The curriculum involves focus on the work of artists, craftspeople and designers, encouraging appreciation of different styles. Displays around the school encourage the children to take pride in their work and aim for a high standard of presentation.
