Meet the Chestnut Class Team
Miss Staniforth, Chestnut Class Teacher
Miss Kensit, Higher Level Teaching Assistant
We are a Year 1 class. Here are some photos of the activities and events that have taken place in Chestnut Class so far.
We had a visit from two scientists! They taught us about good and bad bacteria and the importance of washing our hands really well. We used special gel which glows under ultraviolet light to see how easily bacteria can spread and to check how well we washed our hands. We prepared agar plates to find out about bacteria on different objects in the classroom and we used little microscopes to investigate materials. It was such an exciting day and we learnt so much!

Phonics Sounds for Sounding Out and Blending
This is not the scheme that we use at St Nicolas but it is a really informative video to show how to say the sounds correctly to help with confident blending. Please make sure your child is using the sounds to read words and not the letter names.
