Dear parents and carers,
Congratulations for having discovered St Nicolas’ School! Here we are, right by the town centre, but tucked away in a leafy enclave of peace and security. It is an ideal environment for a really happy beginning to your children’s school days and that is what accounts for the high educational standards which we maintain here.
The link between the school and St Nicolas’ church is also partly hidden, but incredibly valuable. The children soon realise that St Nicolas’ is ‘their church’ and that, together with the traditional pattern of Christian seasons and special days, and getting to know me through my weekly assemblies and involvement in school life, roots them in the basic values of our society so developing their spiritual awareness. In all of this we are very mindful of the Church of England’s clear policy of inclusiveness and sensitivity in relation to all religious traditions, and to those who have a more secular perspective.
The lively link between church, school – and, very much, with parents too – enables us to be well-connected with the wider community. Thus, for example, we have close relationships with both Holy Trinity Junior School and Queen Eleanor’s. Together we support each other in all that is so good about a Church-based primary education.
We know that you have made a good choice – and now I look forward to meeting you.
