Gardening Club
New for September 2020 is our Garden Grotto which is situated in our Outdoor Learning area. This gives us a sheltered area that is warm and dry in the winter months or simply on a day that isn’t particularly nice. We can plant seeds and flowers and create amazing garden art all year round whatever the weather.
We are all quite excited with this new space!
Having created this space Mrs Ip decided she needed to use it as much as possible and so set up Lunchtime Gardening Club.
At the beginning of each new term Mrs Ip will send out invitations to six Year One and Year Two children-watch out for your personal invite!
Monday lunchtimes are for Year One and Thursday lunchtimes are for Year Two.
Mrs Ip and the children will eat their lunch together in the garden on dry days, otherwise in the Grotto. Eating together helps develop social skills.
After lunch we get creating, making dragonflies and bin bugs, decorating wooden flowers, butterflies and birds to decorate our Garden grotto with. Planting Autumn/Winter flowers into colourful containers to brighten our school grounds. Exploring growing winter vegetables!
We will also create special things linked to important
dates from the calendar, for example, Harvest will see us decorating and preparing Harvest gift boxes.
We have so much to do!
Watch this space for more pictures that we will add as the weeks go on...
RHS National Gardening Week 2-8th May 2022.
Each year seeks thousands of people sharing their love of gardening and that included Chestnut Class this year! They spent a couple of mornings in the Well-being garden weeding the vegetable beds, clearing out the greenhouse, planting spring flowers and planting pumpkin seeds to take home and grow
